Rio Marina
Rio Marina is the second port on the island, through which connects the island with Piombino. The area is characterized by the use ferrous reddish tinge that the mountains and the erosion of opencast mining. Monuments interesting we find them in town, as the oratory of St. Rocco, built in the sixteenth century by the Prince of Piombino. The port instead find the octagonal tower, built for the will of Appiani around 1500, while the clock at the top dates from the late 800's. The hamlet lies on the stretch of the east coast of the island, opposite the Gulf of Follonica. Through the rich mineral resources of this area, the territory was a colony until the Etruscan period, the economy of focusing almost exclusively about the village and export of iron. Other economic resources of the municipality was obviously fishing.
